Chemistry accounts for 180 marks in NEET 2025 — and it is the subject where students can gain or lose the most marks in a short time. At Champion Scholars in Chennai and Krishnagiri, our medical-graduate faculty breaks down exactly how to prioritise all 3 branches of NEET Chemistry.
NEET Chemistry: Marks Distribution
| Branch | Questions | Marks | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical Chemistry | 10-12 | 40-48 | Medium |
| Inorganic Chemistry | 14-16 | 56-64 | Easy-Medium |
| Organic Chemistry | 16-18 | 64-72 | Medium-Hard |
Priority 1 — Inorganic Chemistry (Start Here)
Inorganic Chemistry in NEET is almost entirely NCERT-based. This means if you read NCERT Inorganic thoroughly 3-4 times, you can score 50+ marks from this section alone with minimal effort. Key chapters: Periodic Table, p-Block Elements, d and f Block, Coordination Compounds, Hydrogen and s-Block.
Priority 2 — Organic Chemistry (Highest Marks)
Organic Chemistry carries the most marks and requires understanding reaction mechanisms, not memorisation. Start with General Organic Chemistry, then Hydrocarbons, then Functional Groups in order. Practise named reactions — Aldol, Cannizzaro, Hoffmann — daily.
Priority 3 — Physical Chemistry (Calculation-Based)
Physical Chemistry is formula-intensive but predictable. Key topics: Mole Concept, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, and Chemical Kinetics. Solve 20 numerical problems per chapter. Most NEET Physical Chemistry questions follow standard patterns from previous years.
30-Day Chemistry Revision Plan
- Days 1-10: Complete NCERT Inorganic — all p-Block, d-Block, Coordination Compounds
- Days 11-20: Organic Chemistry reactions and mechanisms
- Days 21-25: Physical Chemistry numericals — 30 per day
- Days 26-30: Previous year NEET Chemistry papers (2015-2024)
